Who we are
GLOUP is a student project I built for Colby College's Entrepreneurial Software Engineering course in Waterville, Maine — not a registered business. You can reach me on Instagram at @pk_with_the_clipper.
What we collect
When you book an appointment we collect:
- Your name
- Your mobile phone number
- Any request you choose to add to the booking
If you use the AI hairstyle try-on, the photo you upload and the image generated from it are stored in our file storage so the result can be produced and shown back to you. The shareable result link stops working after 24 hours, but the underlying image files are retained until deleted on request. Only people who have the exact link can view them.
How we use your phone number
Your mobile number is used only to text you about your own appointment. After you book, you receive:
- One confirmation message, straight away
- One reminder message before your appointment
Message frequency: up to 2 messages per booking.
Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
We never send marketing or promotional texts.
SMS consent and mobile information
We do not share, sell, rent, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties.
The only exception is our SMS delivery provider, Twilio, which transmits the appointment messages on our behalf. Twilio only handles message delivery, may not use your number for its own purposes, and is not permitted to sell or market to it.
Opting out
Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. Reply HELP for help. You can also message @pk_with_the_clipper on Instagram and ask to be removed at any time.
Third-party tools
I rely on a small number of outside tools to run this site. They process data only to make the site work and never for their own marketing:
- Vercel — website hosting, file storage, and basic analytics
- Neon — the database holding bookings
- Twilio — delivering appointment text messages (message delivery only; your number is not shared for marketing)
- Google (Gemini) — generating AI hairstyle previews
Cookies
We set one cookie, dc_vid, to count how many free AI hairstyle previews you have used each day. It holds a random identifier only — no name, number, or personal detail — and is not used for advertising or tracking you across other sites. Our host, Vercel, also collects anonymous page-view analytics.
Keeping and deleting data
Booking records are kept so appointments can be managed. AI try-on result links stop working after 24 hours, though the image files themselves are retained. To have your booking details or any uploaded photo deleted, message @pk_with_the_clipper on Instagram and it will be removed.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
